Kidstock

October 2012
Welcome to Kidstock

Greetings!
Happy October, everyone.  The days are getting shorter (and maybe even cooler?) and we can definitely feel that Halloween is approaching.   We are ready for you at Kidstock -- all of our costumes are on display as well as every weight of jacket and coat imaginable, from soft fleece to heavy ski/snow.  We still have lots of sundresses and sandals, so we promise that you will not be the only parent purchasing shorts and ski jackets at the same time!

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Dropped Off Bounty

It happens to most of us -- we drop off our clothing or toys and realize sometime later that the family jewels were in the pocket of that old coat we donated.  Here are some fun things we've found in YOUR pockets just this month:

*A used tissue.
*A piece of candy, half eaten.
*A note saying "I'm sorry and I love you.  You are the best mom ever."
*$5.00
*Concert tickets for Barbra Streisand at the Hollywood Bowl.

Yeah, well, that last one is not true, but it could be!  Please remember to check the pockets of all items you drop off.  This includes toys as well.  Puzzle boxes and pencil cases are notorious for catching and holding all kinds of interesting stuff.  We do return items to customers, but it would probably be better not to lose your items of worth -- both monetary and sentimental -- in the first place.   We always look forward to seeing what our customers bring us, but we'd prefer that items be clean, neatly packed, and used-tissue free.

For a more complete article about what we look for when taking items, please see last month's archived newsletter.
Reminders

* When dropping off items, remember that we won't take everything -- we take very limited amounts of infant clothing up to 1 year, we take no stained or ripped clothing, and all games/toys must be complete and working.  If we can't figure out how to make it work or put it together, we can't accept it or sell it.  Please see our archived September newsletter for some hints and tips on what we look for when accepting items.

* Did you know that Kidstock has quite a few specialty shoes?  We have ballet shoes, tap shoes, slippers, and cleats.

* Shopping for pants without your kids?  Bring a pair of currently well-fitting pants with you to Kidstock so you can compare width and length before you purchase.

* Patootie Cakes are still available in the store. Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- pefect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift. These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase.  To view a picture, go to www.patootiecakes.com.  You can specialty order from the site and pick up at Kidstock to avoid shipping and handling charges.

Costumes

We have tons of costumes in the store and instead of putting them on a rack, which would not contain everything, we have them up high on our wall.  We are happy to get down anything you'd like to see more closely.   We also have a bucket of offbeat accessory items, perfect for you crafty moms and dads who can put together a whole princess outfit with one satin glove.

Don't forget, Kidstock has costumes available all year long because kids love imaginative play all year long!

Messy Halloween Fun
Items needed:
cooked spaghetti, cooled
ping pong balls, colored to look like eyeballs with Sharpie marker
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bury the ping pong balls in the spaghetti and see who can find the most, the fastest.  For bigger kids, you can use marbles or smaller balls.  For a different twist, you can hide the balls in colored jello and/or use a blindfold.  Any way you do it, expect a mess!
