September 2011

Greetings!

Happy September, everyone!  This is the month that sees us go back to school, to schedules, and to start thinking about sweaters, long sleeves, and rain boots.  Well, almost everyone thinks about that stuff, but not so much at Kidstock.  It's HOT outside, have you noticed?!?  That's why even though those big retail store want you to think winter is upon us, at Kidstock we have SoCal weather appropriate clothing ready to go.  Of course we also have school clothing, but we are happy to continue to provide sundresses, shorts, and bathing suits for your hot, growing kids.  And if you want to get a heads up on the snow-type stuff, we have some of that available as well.  Seriously, we have tons of customers buying bathing suits and ski jackets at the same time.  That's just how we roll here in the SoCal!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
Reminders
* We will be accepting all drop-offs again at the end of September.  Thank you for your patience with our re-organization project.  We will continue to accept toys, boys 4 and 5, small furniture, and ski wear through September.  Please remember that we do not take stained or torn items.

* We are still stocking our juniors/women's/maternity rack in the store.  It has some great bargains and some very interesting/funky pieces.  If your girl child (or you, for that matter!) is at that just-between-kids-sizes-and-juniors-size, this is a good section to check out.  Please note that we do not accept or extend credit for items in these sizes!  We will be replacing this rack with additional winter wear and ski jackets at the end of September.

* Don't forget to drop off your dead household batteries in our battery bucket.  No dumping old batteries in the landfill!

* We will continue to stock summer-ish items through the hot fall months.  It will be mixed with our great stuff for back to school.

Book 'Em, Again!
It's September, so of course we need to offer another book promo.  Buy 2, get 2 for a penny each.  And in honor of Substitute Teacher Day and Banned Books Week (all celebrated in September!) if you are a teacher, were a teacher, or know a teacher, we will throw in another book for just one more penny.  Please note that the three least expensive books will be the penny ones.

Use verbal code "Book" to get your deal.

Friendship isn't a big thing,
it's a million little things.

It's friends time again!  Real friends only let their friends shop at Kidstock, of course!  Bring a new friend shopping, and we'll give both you and your friend $5 store credit each!

One deal per family, please.  And yes, you both have to be shopping together.  Use verbal code "Friends" to get your deal.  A "new friend" is one who does not yet have a store credit log at Kidstock.

Jumbo Shrimp Coupon
So it turns out that September has a "National Lazy Moms Day."  It is our UNBIASED OPINION that "LAZY MOMS" is an oxymoronic statement, but we'd like to think that phrase does not mean that we celebrate lazy moms, but rather that moms need to remember to take a lazy day once in a while.  (Our best guess is that the lazy day comes sometime around the first day of school.)  So to celebrate the fact that we all need a day off every so often (or you start to look like the LIVING DEAD), and the fact that this oxymoron coupon is getting PRETTY UGLY, we are offering a 20% off any one clothing or shoe item this month.

One GENUINE IMITATION coupon per family per one item in September, please.  Use verbal code "Lazy" to get your deal.  (And that's your ONLY CHOICE.  Really, we are trying to be SERIOUSLY FUNNY here.)

Please keep telling your friends and family about us -- we are so grateful for the word of mouth referrals.  Kidstock customers are the best!  We are looking forward to seeing you in September, so come in soon.

Sincerely,

Melna, Leslie, and Tony

Fall Roundup Messy Art Project

So you know how every kid has a collection of tiny, plastic pieces of toys?  They collect at the bottom of your car, the sock drawers, and in boxes in every room.  We know you have them, because they get thrown in plastic bags and left for us at Kidstock.  (That kind of thing gets donated to Trash for Teachers, but we would very much appreciate if you would donate it instead of leaving it to us, thanks! www.trashforteaching.org)

Anyway, if you don't have a house like that, we're pretty impressed!  The problem is, your kids are not "ready" to give up their precious collections of dusty army men or mismatched beads.  So here's a fun way to re-purpose those "collections."

Need:
heavy paper or heavy duty paper plates
glue
wooden craft sticks
"collection"

Instructions:
Not too complicated -- round up your items and start gluing them down!  The finished projects can be hung or stored flat.  Or maybe take several nice digital photos with your child and his/her artwork for posterity, before the artwork mysteriously vanishes in the night . . .!
