Kidstock

August 2013
Welcome to Kidstock

Greetings!
Happy August, everyone!   We have some exciting news about Sundays in August, so be sure to check out our announcement below.  Also, by the end of August we will start to turn our racks over to more pants and long sleeves.  Don't worry, though, because as soon as that fall heat wave hits, we will have plenty of sundresses and shorts still available.  We're nimble that way!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Kidstock Takes it to the Streets

Starting August 18, Kidstock will have a vendor booth at the Motor Avenue Farmers' Market, which takes place every Sunday from 9 am to 2pm at the intersection of Motor and National.  This Farmers' Market in particular is great for children with fun kid activities and eclectic music*.  Amenities include free bike racks and easy, abundant parking.  If you live in the area of Motor and National -- or even if you don't! -- come on down and support Kidstock's Sunday Adventures.   You can get more info on the Market at www.motoravenuemarket.com.

Please note that like all the Market vendor booths, on market days Kidstock can only accept cash, no credit cards and store credit can't be used.  However, we are really excited that we will have a bit of space for our much loved and much missed Dollar Rack!  For those of you who are long-time customers of the store, you probably remember our area that had clothing with lots of life but some imperfections.  If you miss that rack, come visit it on Sunday, August 18 and get re-acquainted.  And if you are one of our Sabbath observant customers who have been asking us for Sunday hours, here's your chance to shop Kidstock AND load up on yummy organic produce for the week.  Hope to see you there!

*Does your child play an instrument?  Is he/she in a band?  You can sign up to play a session at the Motor Avenue Farmers' Market website.  Come shop, sit, enjoy (there is a Mimosa Garden!), and bask in the joy of your child playing in public to a very supportive audience.

Reminders
We will not be accepting regular drop-offs during July and August.  We use this time to update and organize our existing inventory.  Rest assured that we are hanging new (to you!) items every day from our backlog so you will still find fresh items on the racks every week.  We will still accept toys and small furniture, boys size 5, and girls size 3.

There is still time to vote in the Red Tricycle Best Consignment/Resale Shop category.  Thank you to all our wonderful customers who voted for us!  Use this link to get to the voting: http://awards.redtri.com/2013/kids-consignment-resale-shops/?location-los-angeles.

* Kidstock's return policy has changed. You may still return items within one week as long as the tags are attached and you have the original receipt. However, we will no longer be giving cash or credit card returns. All returns, no matter how the items were purchased, will be for store credit only.

*  Patootie Cakes are still available in the store.  Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- pefect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift.  These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase.  If you place an order on the Patootie Cakes website, www.patootiecakes.com, you may pick up in the store during the week OR at the Farmers' Market on Sunday (as of August 18), saving shipping costs.

Messy Art Project:
Moon Sand
moon sand pic
Items Needed:
4 cups sand (available at craft stores or Lakeshore, or your own sandbox!)
2 cups corn starch
1 cup water

Moon sand is available commercially, but it's expensive.  Try making your own with this recipe.  Experiment with using colored sand for the base.

Store sand uncovered and add water if you need to bring it back to desired consistency after a few days of non-use.
