August 2012
Welcome to Kidstock

Greetings!
Happy August, everyone!  It's back to school month -- for most of you in just a few short weeks!   We hope you have had time to enjoy your summer vacation and this warm weather.  We've got some back to school specials for you this month as well as an amazing event next week.  We are also hoping you can provide us some feedback on what you'd like to see at Kidstock.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
Come Visit the Foot Fairy!
Tuesday, August 7, 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Dr. Sylvie, Beverly Hills podiatrist and entrepreneur, will be on hand to fit your kids' feet and help you choose appropriate shoes from the Kidstock shelves.  Dr. Sylvie is one of the co-creators of the iPad app "Foot Fairy," which accurately measures kids' feet up to size 12.  (She'll have more traditional measuring devices on hand for the bigger kids.)

What does Dr. Sylvie say about Kidstock's gently used shoe selection?  "I'd rather see young feet in a well made, gently used shoe than in a brand new poorly made one.  Kidstock has some great and unbelievably affordable choices for kids."

You don't need to bring your own iPad to participate, but for every Foot Fairy app download in August, the awesome non-profit organization Baby2Baby, which a lot of Kidstock parents support, will receive a $1 donation from Foot Fairy.

And when you combine this free event with the shoe coupon below, letting the Foot Fairy help you choose appropriate and well-fitting foot gear just makes sense.

You can learn more about the app and Dr. Sylvie at www.footfairy.com, as well as find the link to her blog where she recommends shoes for kids and moms that meet her standards for comfort and style, as well as info about healthy feet in general.  Dr. Sylvie is also the founder of Planet Flops (www.planetflops.com) which are the most incredibly comfy and eco-chic flip flops for both kids and adults.

Kidstock's Foot Fairy Fit Event will be on Tuesday, August 7, from 10:30-1:30.  Bring your kids and your foot questions.  Dr. Sylvie will be happy to help you choose shoes as well as answer your questions regarding your kids' foot health.  You will be able to use the coupons in this newsletter as well as take advantage (spoiler alert!) of whatever deals we may offer to our FB fans.  (If you'd like to be a Kidstock FB fan, go to our website at www.kidstockla.com and you can click on the link.)
August Rush

We need some feedback from you!  Please let us know what you want us to stock up on during August.  Most of you are going back to school this month -- should we keep the shorts and tank tops available, or do you need to purchase more school-appropriate gear?  Do we need to have more shoes available or is it all about the toys?  Let us know what you want to see, and we'll do our best to get it out for you.   Send us an e-mail at info@kidstockla.com with your August thoughts.

And it does not have to be only about August needs.  We'd be open to any constructive (and polite!) criticism or happy thoughts you'd like to share.

Just to sweeten the deal, we'll give $5 in store credit to three random responders.  Let us know your thoughts by August 15, and we'll enter you in a drawing.  We'll let the winners know via email during the following week.

Reminders
*  We will not be accepting clothing during August.  We use this time to update and organize our existing inventory.  We will still accept toys and small furniture, boys sizes 3, 4, and 5, and girls size 3.

*  Kidstock will not be open Monday, September 3 in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

*  Patootie Cakes are still available in the store.  Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- pefect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift.  These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase.

*  We have an assortment of ski bibs, snow pants, and assorted outerwear in various sizes on our jacket rack.  August is a good time to think ahead and get your snow/rain gear for the winter.  We always have snow and rain boots available all year long, as well as water shoes and sandals.  Remember that at Kidstock we are not season snobs -- Southern California kids swim all year long and we sometimes get a snowstorm in April!

Coupon
What do you mean, I can't wear sandals to school?!

Sadly, most schools these days require kids to cover up their precious piggies.  Kidstock can help, though, with this shoe deal.  Purchase one pair of shoes, get the second and third and fourth (etc.!) at half off.

No need to print this coupon.  Just use verbal code "Shoe Deal" at checkout and we will be happy to apply the discount.  The highest priced pair of shoes you purchase will be charged at full price, all other pairs at half price.  This coupon may be used in the same transaction as the Pants coupon.

 Coupon
A Chance for Pants

Choose any pair of pants (or capris or skirts or skorts or shorts -- basically the bottom of the outfit!), pay full price for the first pair and get 20% off every pair after that.  We gotcha' covered!

No need to print this coupon.  Just use verbal code "Pant Deal" at checkout and we will apply the discount.  You may use both August coupons in one transaction.  This coupon may not be used for two-piece outfits, please.

Kidstock knows that our best advertising is word of mouth.  Please share your experience with your friends and family.  We always feel great when we find out that someone trusted us enough to send another customer our way!

Sincerely,
Melna and Leslie

Messy Art Project:
High Chair Hijinks (or really, do it anywhere!)

This works great on a high chair tray, but if you have older kids you can use a cookie sheet or serving tray.   You can also substitute shaving cream for older kids who won't eat their art medium.

Items Needed:
Pudding -- any flavor or color

paint brush or stamps

Spread some pudding on the tray.  Use a paintbrush or your fingers to draw pretty designs.  If the little artist eats the art (or does art upon himself), such is life.  For older kids who are able to use shaving cream on a tray, this is a great activity to practice writing shapes, letters, and numbers -- even beginning cursive learners find this fun.  You can also drop in some food coloring to spice things up.  Be warned:  these are VERY messy activities, so have your clean up plan ready ahead of time.  Best practice dictates doing this outside, near a hose, with a towel at the ready.
