July 2012
Welcome to Kidstock

Greetings!
Happy July, everyone!  This month brings us fireworks, summer camp (or in Mrs. Kidstock's case, Mommy camp!) and easier kid schedules.  We hope you have time to come shopping this month.  Aside from bathing suits and shorts, we always have long sleeves and light jackets -- and we need that for our cool nights in Southern California.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
Play it again, Sam

This month we thought we'd share with you some thoughts that we hear vocalized every day at Kidstock.  It's important to know that you are not alone in this adventure we call parenting, so if any of this strikes a chord, trust us, we haven't heard it only once.  These are very old standards that we get to hear a LOT!

When dropping items off:
"I can't believe how quickly she grew out of these."

"He wore these only once!"

"She said she would wear this and of course, the minute I bought it, never again."
"He needed this for a performance, but wouldn't wear it otherwise."
"He got this as a gift and it's so not his style."
"She got this as a gift and it's so not MY style."

When shopping:
"He needs a bow tie and Urkle pants.  I can't believe I found it here!"
"She is going to love this. How unusual!"
"These are perfect for him!  He's hard to fit because he's so tall and thin. Amazing!"
"I hate to pay full price for something she is going to wear for 2 hours.  This works."
"This is so much fun!"

We love hearing this and it always makes us feel good to be a part of your kids' growing up years.  We look forward to seeing you and your ever-changing kids soon.  Have a great summer!

Reminders
*  We will not be accepting clothing during July and August.  We use this time to update and organize our existing inventory.  We will still accept toys and small furniture, boys sizes 3, 4, and 5, and girls size 3.

*  Kidstock will be closed Wednesday, July 4, in observance of the holiday.

*  Patootie Cakes are still available in the store.  Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- pefect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift.  These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase.

*  We have an assortment of ski bibs, snow pants, and assorted outerwear in various sizes on our jacket rack.  July is a good time to think ahead and get your snow/rain gear for the winter.  We always have snow and rain boots available all year long, as well as water shoes and sandals.  Remember that at Kidstock we are not season snobs -- Southern California kids swim all year long and we sometimes get a snowstorm in April!

Messy Art Project:
July 4th Bubbles (and other messy ideas!)

Items Needed:
White paper
Red/blue tempura paint
Squirt of dish soap
Water
Blowing sticks (like the kind that come with a bottle of bubbles)

Mix dish detergent, water, and paint in two separate bowls.  (One bowl should be red paint; one blue paint.)  Dip bubble blowing sticks in the bowls and blow the bubbles on to the white paper..

If you have leftover paint mixture, try this:  Put Koosh type balls in the paint and then drop on the paper from above.  Sprinkle with glitter.
