May has arrived and with it come promises of great weather and the beginning of making plans for summer vacations. And of course it's the month with Mother's Day and Memorial Day. All reasons to celebrate, of course!

Cotton To It
Kidstock is the right store in the right place at the right time. How do we know that? Because cotton prices are going up.
(Follow us here, because this may sound like a very convoluted argument!)
When cotton prices go up, the price of clothing skyrockets as well. Raw material helps set the base price for those items that require it.
Why is Kidstock in the right place at the right time? Because Kidstock is almost immune to cotton pricing. We don't commission original clothing, we only help move it along from its original home. There is a cost to that, but it more a function of staffing, electricity, and marketing -- which stay fairly consistent for us -- not cotton.
Aside from modeling a recycling mentality for your kids, shopping Kidstock for your everyday and special wear items is also good for your household bottom line. Demand for cotton may be up, cotton production may be slowed, but Kidstock pricing is not a function of the price of cotton.
For more information on how cotton pricing will affect the cost of your favorite brands such as Juicy and Levi's, Gap and BCBG, run a Google search on cotton pricing. And then come shop at Kidstock. We love cotton, we love clothing, and our pricing reflects the fact that Kidstock does not play in global cotton markets. |

Reminders
* We are accepting bags of clothing, toys, and small furniture. A reminder: We don't take stained or ripped clothing. Generally speaking, we offer the most store credit for complete outfits, designer labels, and funky/cool boutique clothing. All items should be clean and ready to hang.
* Our store hours are Monday through Saturday, 10am to 5pm. We will be closed Monday,
May 30th, in observance of Memorial Day.
* Parking enforcement has been vicious on Pico lately. PLEASE remember to put enough money in your meter, or park behind our store. We have four spaces available. We ask that you not use our neighbors' parking spaces even for "just a moment." They are all small businesses like us and need to have their parking spaces available for their customers.
* During May we will be condensing our ski/snow wear racks. We will keep a small selection of winter wear available for those customers who are planning trips to Australia or Brazil. (Lucky ducks!)

Messy Mother's Day Craft
We love crafts that are messy and fun, appeal to both boys and girls, and can be adapted for different ages. (But we especially like the messy part!) This craft is not only a Mom's Day project -- it would be great for dad or grandparents or even the mailman.
(Of course, though, the most important element is its messiness!)
Materials needed:
medium size terracotta pot
acrylic paint with brushes (or not. handprints are good too!)
different size metal washers
string
hot glue gun
Have kids paint pot (or handprint pot or somehow get pretty paint on the pot.) When dry, tie 5 to 6 metal washers to string, and then glue gun the string to the inside of the pot. Turn the pot upside down (when the glue is dry) and you have an awesome wind chime! (Tip: Don't forget to paint your pot upside down so that the design will appear right side up.)
