Greetings!
Happy April, everyone! Spring has sprung and we are ready to change our racks from winter gear to sundresses and shorts. However, it's so cold outside that we are still selling more jackets and fleeces than tanks. What's a resale store to do? The only answer is to have both ready to go.
So come on in during April. We promise to have both shorts and ski jackets readily available. We look forward to seeing you soon! |
Reminders
* We are accepting bags at this time -- don't worry about whether the clothing is seasonally appropriate or not. Please do worry, however, about the clothing being clean, not ripped or stained, and games and toys being complete and working. Please note that during July and August we will not be accepting clothing, but we will still accept toys and small furniture. We use those summer months to organize our current inventory. Please plan ahead!
* Do you have dead batteries? Do not put them in the trash! We are happy to make sure that your dead batteries are disposed of appropriately. Our battery bucket is located near the back door.
* Shopping tip: If you are shopping without your kids, bring clothing with you that fits them appropriately. That way you can measure length and width with more confidence.
* Kidstock is honored to have been asked to support our local schools during this fundraising season. We wish Warner, Fairburn, St. Timothy, Beverly Glen Playgroup, Ocean Charter, and New West Charter the best of luck with their fundraising efforts.

Every Day is Earth Day at Kidstock
One of the most remarkable celebrations each year happens in April. This month includes the celebration of Earth Day, and the Earth Day mandate tracks many of the guiding principles of what we hope to accomplish every day at Kidstock.
We agree it's great to save money and purchase gently used, pre-owned clothing for a fraction of what you'd pay new -- clearly savvy parents are in tune with this idea. But what about the fact that every time you choose recycled clothing over new, you are engaging in recycling and waste reduction? What does it say about your family when you choose to repurpose or reuse, rather than waste both materials and money? What lessons do you teach your children when you show them that just because it costs more, does not mean that it IS more, or better?
So on this Earth Day 2012, we at Kidstock salute our amazing customers who not only talk the talk about small steps that save the world, but also walk the walk by including Kidstock in their everyday Act of Green efforts. |

Messy April Art
We've shared a version of this messy art project before, but it's so messy and so fun, we need to share it again. Seriously, who doesn't love art that explodes?!?
Materials:
Large sheet of paper
Baking soda
1 Toilet paper square
Zip-top sandwich bag
White vinegar
Tempera paint
Measuring spoon and cup
Directions:
- Spread a large sheet of paper on the ground.
- Scoop one tablespoon of baking soda into the center of a square of toilet paper, fold into a bundle and tuck into one corner of the sandwich bag.
- Mix one-third cup of vinegar with one tablespoon of paint color of your choice and pour into opposite corner of the bag.
- Seal the sandwich bag quickly, with a little air inside, and mix by shaking slightly and set on the paper. Then stand back! The bag will inflate and pop, leaving a masterpiece fit only for the outdoors.
