Kidstock

March 2014

Happy March, everyone!  Spring has sprung . . sort of.  We still have long sleeves and jackets available, but we are hanging up spring things in a hopeful sort of way.  Whether you are hot or cold, we have something for everyone.  Jackets and bathing suits are ready to go, so come get whatever you need for your spring!  The time jumped forward this past weekend and the days will be longer -- not sure if they will be colder or warmer, but we are ready for it all!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
Reminders

 *  We are accepting clothing and toy drop offs.  Please remember that we do not accept stained or torn items or incomplete/non-working toys.  If you wouldn't buy it in its current condition, we probably won't take it.  Please remember that we have to carry your items up and down a flight of stairs, so don't make your bags too heavy.  Kidstock does not accept items during July and August, so keep that in mind when planning for the summer.

*  When shopping for pants for kids older than 3 (when they are not with you), remember to bring a pair that currently fits so you don't have to guess too much at waist and length sizes.

*  Don't forget to check out our Dollar Rack in the Back!  The rack changes each week, so always something new there too!

Patootie Cakes are still available in the store.  You can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- perfect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift. These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase. To view a picture, go to www.PatootieCakes.com. You can specialty order from the site and pick up at Kidstock to avoid shipping and handling charges.

* Don't forget that Kidstock has a battery bucket.  Please don't throw your old batteries in the trash.  If you don't e-cycle yourself, Kidstock is happy to collect your old batteries for appropriate disposal.
Doing It In Denim

One of the most versatile fabrics ever invented, denim is a staple of every kid's wardrobe.  From the time it was made popular by the working man and Levi Strauss in the 1800's to its use as a fashion statement today, denim is ubiquitous in our lives.  It's tough and durable, (except if you are a 5 year old boy!), it keeps you warm without being too heavy, and it can be dressed up or down.  Also, most denim is 100% cotton, so if man-made fabrics irritate you, denim is a great choice.

Even more importantly, we are awash with quite a bit of denim at Kidstock!  Come in this month for a great coupon deal.  We want to move as much denim as we can so we don't have to store it during the hotter summer months.  We love denim, but we want you to have it, not us.  Come do denim with us in March!

Messy Art Project:

Kool-Aid Playdough Recipe

1 cup flour

½ cup salt

1 small pkg. unsweetened Kool-Aid

1 ½ tbsp cooking oil

1 c boiling water

Mix flour, salt, oil and Kool-Aid. Add boiling water; stir and knead until cooled and smooth. Store in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. This playdough will be the color and scent of the Kool-Aid you used.  (Probably not toxic to eat, but we are guessing the taste is not too pleasant.)

Kool-Aid can stain some items so keep play area covered or use an apron and baking sheet.
