Welcome to Kidstock
Greetings!
Happy November, everyone! Here at Kidstock we are hanging new (to us!) inventory every day. Snow gear and jackets are being stocked regularly. Kidstock strives to keep a mixture of long sleeves and shorts on our racks to accommodate the cool mornings and warm mid days. If it turns out that this year you need a sundress instead of velvet for Thanksgiving dinner, we can most likely help you outfit your kids.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon! |
Be in the Know About Snow
Planning on taking the kids to visit local snow (Mr. Kidstock says, "We should only be so lucky!) in SoCal this winter? Plan ahead and save yourself some misery (aka whining!) Here's some tips from Mrs. Kidstock who learned these rules the hard way:
1. If the tush gets cold/wet, it's not fun anymore.
2. If the fingers, toes, and ears are cold, the whining will start. And then it's not fun anymore.
At Kidstock we are hanging snow stuff every day, so come find all the layers you need for a local snow play visit this year. We have boots, gloves, and lots of layering options.

Farewell to a Good Friend
We wanted to take a moment and say a sad farewell to Baby Daze and Angie and Kit. While some might think that our respective children's resale stores were competition, those who support small businesses know that all ships rise together. Kidstock and Baby Daze often shared customers, regularly referring to one another if one could not provide for a customer's need. While Angie and her family chose to move on to a wonderful opportunity, we know that the children's resale world will be forever changed because our customers' choices narrow each time a small business closes.
Please remember that if you value the idea of small, independent business, you need to demonstrate your support on a regular basis, both by shopping and by sharing with your friends and family.
We wish Angie and her family much joy and success in their new adventure.

Reminders
* Drop-offs -- Please limit yourself to two market bags or one trash bag. Please weed out stained and ripped items so we have more time to get to everyone's items. And overstuffing bags or dropping off ripped trash bags makes it difficult for all of us, so please pack your bags appropriately.
* Kidstock's $1 Rack in the Back -- make sure to check out our rack in the parking lot for random fun items that are on their way out.
* Bring a sample! When shopping for pants or shoes without your kids, bring a current pair that fits him/her correctly so you can match sizes. For older kids, it helps to take some of the guesswork out of the waist/length size.
* Patootie Cakes are still available in the store. Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- perfect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift or shower table centerpiece. These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase. If you place an order on the Patootie Cakes website, www.patootiecakes.com, you may pick up in the store during the week with no shipping/handling fees.
* Kidstock will be closed Thursday, November 28 for Thanksgiving, and open on Black Friday. Please note that the collective Mrs. Kidstocks will be on vacation the week of November 30-December 5, so store hours will be in flux for that week. Please check our outgoing answering machine message for our store hours during this time. Regular store hours will resume December 6.

Messy Art Project:
Oreo Turkey

This is one of our favorite messy crafts for the Kidstock family. Mostly because after we assemble all the supplies, we eat more than we create. Really, no downside there!
Materials needed:
*Giant package of Oreo cookies (you won't need them all, but you will want to eat some whilst creating your turkeys. Generic brands work fine too.)
*Rainbow Goldfish crackers (you can use the healthy ones or the non-healthy ones. Again, plan on some snacking here too. As long as they are red-ish and shaped like a fish, you are good)
*prepared chocolate frosting in a can (do you need any commentary on this item?)
*Graham crackers (you need a square shape so you can either buy the long ones and break them in half or Ralph's brand graham crackers come as a square.)
*Candy corn or Indian corn (tricolored, triangle shaped candies. Buy these on sale right after Halloween is over!)
Stick the pointed end of the candy between the two sides of the Oreo cookie. Use 5-7 pieces of candy corn. Sometimes the cookie cracks, but you can still use them. You have to wiggle the edge of the cookie apart a bit, but the frosting should hold everything in place. This takes a bit of a gentle touch to get just right.
Put a little chocolate frosting on one edge of the red goldfish. Stick this on, tail down, on the top portion of the Oreo cookie.
Put a generous dollop of chocolate frosting in the center of the graham cracker square. Stick the decorated Oreo cookie onto the frosting so it stands upright. These can be used as decoration or place card holders.
