Happy October, everyone! We've got a good mix of long sleeves and shorts on our racks, so come shop for the weather. We are also getting those winter dresses up for those of you who take holiday pictures in October.
See below for our Farmer's Market update. We hope to see you out there next Sunday. Lots of yummy seasonal fruits and veggies plus craft vendors and fun kid activities. And on October 27 there will be a super fun kids Halloween party between the organic strawberries and the wild bee honey.

Putting Money into the Kitchen
The toy that we get asked for most often are kitchens. Wood, plastic, small, large -- all can be easily re-homed. Kitchens are great toys because both boys and girls play with them, it covers a wide age span, and they are usually pretty durable. And if you bring your outgrown kitchen in to Kidstock, we almost always take them for resale, so you can always realize something on your initial investment.
So if you decide to limit your kids to one major toy, we highly recommend a kitchen for the best long-term use and great return on investment.

Kidstock Takes it to the Streets
(This is a repeat of our August column. If you paid attention the first time
you read it, you can skip it this month.)
Kidstock now has a vendor booth at the Motor Avenue Farmers' Market, which takes place every Sunday from 9 am to 2pm at the intersection of Motor and National. This Farmers' Market in particular is great for children with fun kid activities and eclectic music*. Amenities include free bike racks and easy, abundant parking. If you live in the area of Motor and National -- or even if you don't! -- come on down and support Kidstock's Sunday Adventures. You can get more info on the Market at www.motoravenuemarket.com.
Please note that like all the Market vendor booths, on market days Kidstock can only accept cash, no credit cards and store credit can't be used. However, we are really excited that we will have space for our much loved and much missed Dollar Rack! For those of you who are long-time customers of the store, you probably remember our area that had clothing/toys with lots of life but some minor imperfections. If you miss that rack, come visit our $1 table on Sunday and get re-acquainted. Hold the date for the Sunday, October 27 market as it promises to be a very fun Halloween kid-oriented celebration. *Does your child play an instrument? Is he/she in a band? You can sign up to play a session at the Motor Avenue Farmers' Market website. Come shop, sit, enjoy, and bask in the joy of your child playing in public to a very supportive audience.

Reminders
* Drop-offs -- Please limit yourself to two market bags or one trash bag. Please weed out stained and ripped items so we have more time to get to everyone's items. And overstuffing bags makes it difficult for all of us, so please pack your bags appropriately.
* Kidstock's return policy has changed. You may still return items within one week as long as the tags are attached and you have the original receipt. However, we will no longer be giving cash or credit card returns. All returns, no matter how the items were purchased, will be for store credit only.
* Patootie Cakes are still available in the store. Don't forget that you can grab and go with these already wrapped diaper cakes -- pefect for a new baby hospital visit or as a shower gift. These come from an outside vendor, so store credit may not be used for your purchase. If you place an order on the Patootie Cakes website, www.patootiecakes.com, you may pick up in the store during the week OR at the Farmers' Market on Sunday, saving shipping costs.

This will be our last shoe coupon for 2013, so load up on those winter boots, cleats, and flip flops. (This coupon is especially dedicated to all our customers who came in in February of this year and found out that most of the snow/rain boots were gone.) Shoe shop in October and buy one, get one at 50% off.

Messy Art Project:
Balloon Balls
Items Needed:
Small balloons
white glue
colored yarn
Cover your work space!!! Blow up balloons and knot. Drop yarn in glue and wrap around balloons in varying patterns. Mix and match colors and thickness of yarn. Hang to dry. Make sure space under balloons is well protected as glue will continue to drip.
When dry, pop balloon and gently remove.
